I rented a bike for 20 minutes. Why am I being charged $50?
When you purchase a 24hr subscription from one of our stations using a credit card, a preauthorization hold of $50 dollars per subscription is placed on your account. This is not a charge against your account. It serves as a security deposit and will be returned to you when the hold expires. When a hold is placed on an account, it's done by the bank that issued the card, in other words, it's done by your bank. Each bank has different policies for the length of time that a hold is placed on an account but they're usually about 3-6 days. Nice Ride does not control the length of the hold, and the length of the hold is not related to when you returned the bike. We recommend using a credit card and not a debit/check card when renting bikes. Using a debit card may result in overdrafts if you don't have sufficient funds in your account to cover the hold. If you have trouble related to a hold placed on your card, please contact our customer service department at 1-877-551-6423. We'll try to work with you by contacting your bank to have the hold released.

What are "Trip Fees"?
Bike sharing is designed for short trips. When you check out a bike for rides lasting more than 30 minutes, you will be charged trips fees. Trip fees are designed to keep bikes available for use, and discourage users from holding on to bikes when they are not riding them. Rather than taking a bike to work and keeping it in your office all day, the idea is to return it to a nearby kiosk, then take another bike for the ride home at the end of the day. For more information on trip fees and the cost of using Nice Ride, see
How it Works.

I've returned my bike, how do I get a second one?
