Nice Ride Installs World’s First Key-Dispensing Bike Share Station

As a part of a continued commitment to innovation and dedication to improving urban bike sharing, Nice Ride has installed the world’s first key-dispensing bike share station.

The station is located at the Hyatt Regency at 1300 Nicollet Ave in downtown Minneapolis. Nice Ride is beginning the initial steps of upgrading the existing system, eventually adding 20 new stations with the same technology.

It has a color touch screen with a user-friendly interface and introduces the ability to purchase and immediately receive a Nice Ride key directly at the station. Anyone who purchases a pass at a Nice Ride station can opt to purchase a key to be used with their pass for an additional $3 per key, which makes accessing the green bikes even more convenient. The pass-holder can keep the same key and continue using it the next time they purchase a pass.

The system upgrades are made possible by Nice Ride’s title sponsor, the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. Nice Ride will announce more information regarding the new station locations in the coming weeks.

If there has been a lot of requests for getting a bike kiosk somewhere (like Penn & 76th - by Best Buy); when would we find out if one will be placed there??
