2015 Year In Review

Happy New Year! The energy is palpable here at Nice Ride as we plan for a big season in 2016. As we continue preparations for the upcoming year, we thought it might be a great time to look back on what happened in 2015. It was another record-breaking year, after all.

Nice Ride ended the 2015 season with a total of 483,233 rides taken. That’s an increase of 74,748 to beat 2014’s record of 408,485 rides. Beautiful weather definitely helped with that record, in fact, the first day of the season was the biggest first day in our history. On April 1st, the Twin Cities had perfect 80 degree weather which helped us achieve 557 rides taken.

Our employer partnership program added over 20 new partners, the biggest of which was The University of Minnesota, with over 1,100 Nice Ride annual members registered through the program. If you are interested in providing discounted memberships for your organization’s wellness program you can find more information here: https://www.niceridemn.org/groups/

To celebrate their centennial anniversary, The Minneapolis Foundation became a Nice Ride sponsor in 2015. We partnered to create the #NicestDayEver, a day-long event to encourage riders to get out on a bike for a good cause. The Minneapolis Foundation provided free 24-hour passes for riders all over Minneapolis, and pledged to donate one dollar for every ride taken on June 27th, 2015. That day, Nice Ride blasted through the previous all-time record, which generated a $5,613 donation to Free Bikes for Kidz. Now, that’s a fantastic way to celebrate a centennial.

We can’t wait for warmer days and a new season of bike sharing, but we hope you’re having a super nice winter in the meantime. There will be some changes coming in 2016 as we work to provide a bike share and fleet solutions for Minnesota. Keep an eye on announcements in the coming weeks for more information.

Hi Nice Ride!

Is there a way I could view a report or receive trends for Nice Ride in the Twin Cities (and specifically St. Paul) for the past 5 years?

You say riding has increased and I'm curious during what particular months and what correlations I might draw for any increase of decrease. I'm curious about urban transportation trends and would welcome any help for my research.
