Last Day of Season - Sunday Nov 6th

Share   |  Posted Oct. 26, 2016 by Mitch Vars

The 2016 Nice Ride season will end at 10pm on Sunday November 6th.

Starting at 10pm on November 6th, all stations will be locked. Users will be able to return bikes to stations but new rentals will not be allowed. Please plan accordingly. Crews will begin removing equipment from the streets in the following days.

The Nice Ride season typically runs from the first week of April, through the first week of November, weather permitting. Many of our location permits require us to remove equipment from streets and sidewalks before significant snowfall occurs to accommodate plowing.

For up to the minute bike and station availability, we recommend you download our mobile app, Nice Ride Bike Share, available free from Apple iTunes and the Google Play Store.

If you have a Nice Ride key please hang on to it, you will continue to use the same key next year. Put it in a safe place so you'll be ready to ride when the bikes return in the spring. Yearly subscriptions last a full 365 days from the date of purchase. For example, if your membership began on August 1st, 2016, your key would continue to work until July 31, 2017.

We want to thank everyone who hopped on a bike and helped support Nice Ride throughout the 2016 season. Watch for our return in early April of 2017.

It's too bad you're removing a means of transportation before Election Day. It would've better to wait after that in case someone is reliant.

Please reconsider the deadlines in light of weather. It looks like we will be having a relatively warm and dry weather next 15 days. You indicate each year that the issue is with the city requiring docks to be cleared, but is there a way to request that the deadline be flexible and not fixed day?

Also, while this post mentioned that bikes will be available Sunday till 10 pm for checkout, many docks had exactly zero bikes, especially in high demand areas like U of M.

In effect, this meant that the deadline was shortened by an extra day - a day which was sunny at 70 degrees and would have been perfect for riding.

How long can I take a bike out?

Bike sharing is designed for short trips. Trips over 30 minutes will incur usage fees. You can take a bike out for a maximum of 24 hours. After that time, the bike will be considered lost and a replacement fee will be charged to your credit card.
